My father, Marc Gertner, passed away last Saturday, from complications after catching influenza. Looking back on my earlier blogposts gives a good idea of his recent role in my life. Today I am writing his eulogy, a powerful task for any son or daughter. We travel tomorrow to Ohio, with my dad’s ashes, for a memorial service and committal at the cemetery. I’m taking the month off from work and radio to reflect on my father, and I’ll add blogposts to chart this path. Here’s a nice piece about my dad from today’s Toledo Blade newspaper. Thanks to everyone who reached out after learning about by father’s passing. I am bolstered by a community who have supported my own process of being a good son and a good father. May his memory be forever a blessing.
